Meet The Maker
Hello Everyone …
We want to welcome you to Colty Stitched. We hope you enjoy your time in our neck of the woods, hope you find something on your trail, that will make you a lifelong customer.
Now, let’s get to know us …
Hi … I’m Colt. Born and raised in the blue spacious skies of Wyoming. Nature and Mountain lover, where I’m always inspired. I got married to my husband in 2015. We had 4 puppies, in May this year we lost one, our precious little Garren. I also work a full time job as a CNA (certified nursing assistant) and going back to school to become a RN (registered nurse). Life is full of possibilities and opportunities, always gearing you to leap and step out of your comfort zone.
I have always had this creative side to me. I have pooled in the ideas of drawing, poetry, painting and writing, but nothing stuck with me. It never stood out to myself, for something that I have wanted to pursue, so venture to something new. I have always had this crafty vein in me, even when I was younger. So, many trials and errors for me have paid off over the years, to where I have finally found the right trail for the perfect journey, which is playing with anything and everything FIBER.
It was literally the day after Thanksgiving in 2016, when I first took the plunge, allowing my fingers to play with a hook and yarn. I was memorized by what my older sister was making with a hook and a ball of yarn. Shortly afterwards is when I asked my Mother in Law, to see if she was interested in teaching and she started teaching me the world of what crochet was. She felt honored and touched, that I wanted her to show me. She showed me how to hold my yarn and hook, explained to me that at this moment don’t worry about getting the tension and hand placement right on, just want you practice making single crochets in the round. That is exactly what I did. Four hours later, I got the hang of making my first ever stitch and a project. Was it perfect, nope it wasn’t at all. It was wonky and not in the form of circle in anyway or form. I was proud that I learned something way out of comfort zone and took that step — I still have this project today, as my remembrance of where I started and taking that nerve wrenching step into a new journey. Still learning and teaching myself, all from the greatest tutorials on the YouTube, I got the greatest hunch and nerve, to make my own little side hustle, to share my creations with the world. A way for me to give back.
In 2017, my crochet designing started. I started it with my older sister and my mother in law. We called it MM_Crochet17, but in September 2023 decided it was time for a change and a new brand. Colty Stitched was born. It’s simple and rustic, just like the things we create and hand make with our own hands, while adding modern elements into our designs. But, we haven’t gave up nor stopped, they are more things to come and things we want to create and bring center fold. We always make warm, comfy and cozy makes that leave you feeling and wanting more. We keep our designs simple and rustic, while adding eye popping textures to everything we create. We create items for your home and adding to your wardrobe, to keep always comfy and cozy.
We are makers, designers and pattern testers. We love to help and always feel inspired, to always keep the knowledge flowing freely through every stitch making their mark.
We have over the past 3 years, reached out to many amazing and incredible yarn companies. It has been a dream come true, complete honor and a blessing. Still to this day, we continue working with and supporting them. Here are a few: Furls Crochet, Crochet Foundry, Hobbii Yarn, WeCrochet and KnitPicks. I hoping and knowing that there will be done the line.
As the years keep evolving, so does our skills, techniques and knowledge on this amazing journey we are on. We keep striving to press forward and bring you one of kind handmade pieces, that you will come to treasure. Nothing else makes happy, knowing you love the stories and inspiration behind every creation, making their stitch being marked.
Crocheting for us is no longer a hobby, it’s now our life. We live it. We breathe it. Can’t sleep without it. It’s become apart of our being. It relaxes us. Keeps us focused. Makes us feel calmer.
Get your hooks and favorite fiber ready, as we have more old wips and never before seen wips, coming to you soon.
Welcome … to our life long love. With many more years of happiness and laughter, bringing you all the joy of our passion, with you.
Stay comfy and Cozy … always.
